Basic Description

The Spotted Dove is a large, pretty dove with mauve underparts, a grayish head, and a broad black nape patch with fine white spots. It is native to southern and eastern Asia, and has been introduced to the Hawaiian Islands, Southern California, Australia, and other sites around the world. Spotted Dove is a common sight and sound in populated areas, where it forages on the ground and frequently delivers burry, low-pitched cooing sounds.
