Eurasian SkylarkAlauda arvensis
- ORDER: Passeriformes
- FAMILY: Alaudidae
Basic Description
The Eurasian Skylark’s exuberant song cascades down over fields and grasslands as displaying males deliver a seemingly endless stream of trills and whistles while hovering high in the sky. When they return to the ground, skylarks are easy to overlook, as their streaky brown upperparts blend in well with the agricultural fields and open areas they call home. One of the most common and familiar birds in its native Europe, the skylark has been introduced to Australia, New Zealand, the Hawaiian Islands, and British Columbia.
