Toucan Close-up Alert! Keel-billed Toucan Takes a Bite During Lunch Session

It’s toucan season at the Canopy Lodge in Panama, where we’ve been streaming our Panama Fruit Feeder Cam since 2018. A beautiful Keel-billed Toucan has put on multiple appearances at the feeders over the last week, and we’re hoping for more. These large toucans are mostly frugivorous, eating fruits and seeds from many species of trees. They may also supplement their diets with small animals like snakes, lizards, insects, and even eggs and nestlings of small birds.
