2025 Cornell Hawks Cam Fledglings Take To The Skies!

Watch nestling O1 fledge from the Cornell Hawks nest on June 20.

The Cornell Hawks started summer in spectacular fashion when both Red-tailed Hawk nestlings—O1 (48 days old) and O2 (44 days old)—fledged on the evening of the summer solstice, June 20. O1 led the way with a bold flight across Tower Road, landing on Bradfield Hall before fluttering to the ground. Moments later, O2 followed suit with a short but confident flight to the nearby light tower.

Relive the excitement with highlights from this past week, including their adventurous antics on the nest platform and one fledgling’s return to the nest!

Watch the Red-tailed Hawk chicks explore the farther reaches of the nest platform.
Watch Big Red deliver a chipmunk to one of the fledglings at the nest site.
Watch fledgling O1 come face to face with the cam on a return visit to the nest site.

Both O1 and O2 are now busy exploring their campus territory. Big Red and Arthur are keeping watch over their offspring as the young hawks develop the critical flight and hunting skills on their journey towards independence. The parents will supplement their fledglings with food for up to two months after fledging and will continue to associate with them until the young birds are ready to disperse from their campus territory.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 14th season of the Cornell Hawks Cam! Stay tuned for ongoing updates on Twitter/X and Mastodon as we follow this remarkable hawk family’s journey through the summer months.
