Gulf Coast Spring Fling

April 6, 2024 May 5, 2024

Twice each year millions of birds swarm across the Americas, traveling thousands of miles as they migrate between breeding and wintering grounds, stopping en route to refuel at coastal stopover sites. Spring Fling is an amazing opportunity to see migratory songbirds as they arrive at stopover habitat along the coast. This is great time to enjoy the wide variety of species that migrate through Texas, such as orioles, grosbeaks, tanagers, and numerous warbler species, to name just a few.

Saturday, April 6th is the start of GCBO’s Spring Fling at Quintana Neotropical Bird Sanctuary, Quintana, Texas. From April 6th to May 5th  you can birdwatch as thousands of migratory songbirds arrive. GCBO volunteers and staff will man the host station on site from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm daily and provide local birding information, bird checklists, sell snacks and drink as well as T-shirts, bird field guides, and much more!  They will post the daily bird list and help identify birds!
