Pascagoula River Audubon Center Hummingbird and Nature Festival
September 23 - September 24
Visit Pascagoula River Audubon Center for the annual Hummingbird Festival and enjoy the beauty of these swift-moving birds along with other activities that focus on conservation and the environment. There will be guest speakers for adults and hands-on activities for children. School groups, senior groups, tour groups, and the general public are welcome on Friday and Saturday.
Adult daily tickets are $10 and tickets for children ages 5–15 are $5. Children under 5 years of age are FREE. Admission for adults attending Hummingbird Happy Hour is $15. An adult 3-day pass for Hummingbird Happy Hour on Thursday along with the two festival days is $30.
Meet Kyle Shepard with the banding Coalition of America who will be catching these tiny birds for research purposes. He will be banding hummingbirds Thursday evening and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., or as long as they are around. He is a licensed bander of many different species of birds. On a recent visit to PRAC, he estimated nearly 4,000 hummingbirds are moving through our area daily.
