Hybrid Kachemak Bay Shorebird Festival

May 6 - May 9

Join birders from around the world for Alaska’s largest wildlife festival! Our 2021 festival will be both live and virtual.

The renowned keynote speakers, presenters, and workshops offered online will be educational, inspirational, and fun for people of ALL ages and abilities with real-time Q&A. On the water and shoreline of Kachemak Bay, we will continue to offer guided tours and activities, showcasing the wonder of the shorebirds’ migration and the awe-inspiring landscape of Kachemak Bay to folks from near and far.

Located on the beautiful shore of Kachemak Bay, the Homer Spit is one of the most accessible places for shorebird viewing in Alaska. With over 100,000 shorebirds of 25 different species migrating through in early May, this five-day event celebrates the return of spring and migrating birds. The festival has great birds, excellent guiding, educational seminars and workshops, and children’s activities at all skill levels. For more information, visit our website.

The Friends of Alaska National Wildlife Refuges welcomes all festival participants. For the safety of our community, employees, volunteers, and visitors, all festival events will follow the current COVID-19 protocols.

We find hope in our shorebirds—as they migrate north and continue to gather along our shores.  Please check at this link: https://kachemakshorebird.org/ for new ways to connect with the Kachemak Bay Shorebird Festival.
