A large seabird with a long, thick neck and a smallish bill (larger than Pelagic Cormorant's). It has a long tail, a relatively large head, and large feet. Breeding adults have a short forecrest and hindcrest.

Slightly larger than a Pelagic Cormorant, smaller than a Double-crested Cormorant.
