Costa’s Hummingbird is Exciting Rare Visitor in West Texas

Watch a male Costa’s Hummingbird visit the West Texas Feeder cam.

While every moment with the tiny, bejeweled hummingbirds of West Texas is a treat, it is especially fun when a rare or unexpected visitor stops by the feeder. That’s been the case this week when a male Costa’s Hummingbird arrived in the area. These compact hummingbirds typically range in western Mexico and certain areas of the southwestern U.S., and this individual marks only the second verified summer record of a Costa’s Hummingbird in Texas!
