American Kestrel Cam Returns With Five Eggs!
April 17, 2026The American Kestrel Cam is back, streaming live from Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. The female has laid three eggs on April 8, 10, 14, 14, and 16. American Kestrels typically lay four or five eggs per clutch, adding one egg every other day until the clutch is complete. With a clutch of five, it’s sure to be busy in the nest box this season.
Now that the clutch is complete, the female will continue incubating the eggs for about four weeks until they hatch, which should begin around May 11. The male may also incubate from time to time, but he will spend most of his time hunting for food. Viewers may see him deliver meals to his mate at the nest box during this period.
We look forward to following these feisty falcons through the 2026 breeding season. Make sure to follow the cam on Twitter/X and Mastodon for daily updates.
