If you’re a nature enthusiast itching for spring, be sure to check out the Herricks Cove Wildlife Festival on Sunday, May 3, at beautiful Herricks Cove at the confluence of the Williams and Connecticut Rivers in Rockingham, Vermont. The festival is presented by Ascutney Mountain Audubon Society, Great River Hydro, Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department, and Great Falls Regional Chamber of Commerce, with support from the Vermont Watershed Grant, Magris Talc, Audubon Vermont, Orvis, Birds&Beans, and FACT TV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This family-friendly festival focuses on the wildlife and the natural heritage of our Connecticut River Valley region. The festival features live animals, nature-focused walks, kids’ activities, presentations by environmental and nature organizations, and demonstrations that include the Vermont Fish and Game Canine Unit. All this and more, with an emphasis on getting outdoors and enjoying nature. There will be food offered by a variety of local vendors as well as wildlife art, craft, book, and gift vendors present through the day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gates to the festival venue open at 9:30 a.m. Activities are scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., rain or shine, with an early morning bird walk at 7:00 a.m. The suggested donation is $3.00 for an individual and $5.00 for a family (cash or check payable to AMAS or on-line), but no one is turned away for lack of funds. Because of the wild animal presentations, pets are not allowed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Herricks Cove is located off Exit 6 of I-91. Take 103 east to Rt. 5 north. After crossing the Williams River, turn right on the Herricks Cove Road.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
