Sagres Birdingwatching Festival

October 3, 2024 October 6, 2024

Portugal’s largest nature event, the Sagres Birdwatching Festival is held the first weekend of October. This event incorporates a fabulous program of birdwatching and nature activities and is one of the most important events in the world’s birdwatching calendar.

In October, thousands of birds fly over the Algarve, en route to wintering grounds in Africa. Join the birdwatchers who flock to the region, and make the most of this incredible sight with days jam-packed with activities in the Sagres area. From birdwatching tours on land and sea to hikes along scenic trails, there are plenty of opportunities for nature lovers to discover there’s more to the Algarve than beaches. And there’s plenty for birdwatchers’ families, too — in addition to the usual bird-watching sessions on land and sea, there will be night butterfly watching sessions, tours to observe whales and dolphins and even a fossil hunt at the fortress.

Visit our website for full program (August 1) and for registration (September 1): https://www.birdwatchingsagres.com/en/
