Frontiers in Ornithology Student Symposium
October 4, 2025 All day
The Frontiers in Ornithology Student Symposium is a one-day student symposium focusing on ornithology, avian conservation, and related academic pursuits. The symposium goal is to educate and inspire students to take their passion for birds and conservation to a higher level. Ages 13 to 23 are invited to attend, as well as accompanying adult mentors or parents/guardians.
In 2025, our keynote speaker will be Steven Carr Hampton (Cherokee Nation), a birder and a writer focusing on birds and climate change. Steve worked for the California Dept of Fish & Wildlife for 25 years, involved in oil spill damage assessments and seabird restoration. Two youth keynotes will also be presenting: Song Han Ngo, and Lara Tseng, student ornithologists working on research in avian conservation. Eight additional speakers, who are leaders in bird conservation today will provide presentations for attendees throughout this fantastic one-day experience. Time is built in for networking. A catered lunch is included on site with registration. Cost per student is $40, with scholarships available. Please visit our website for more information!
