29th Southwest Wings Birding and Nature Festival

May 5, 2021 - May 8, 2021

https://www.swwings.org/

Due to the abundance and variety of wildlife species, Southwest Wings offers two birding events each year: Southwest Wings Spring Fling in May (5–8, 2021) with guided field trips only and the Southwest Wings Birding and Nature Festival in August (4–7, 2021) with guided field trips, free programs, wildlife exhibits, vendors, and a keynote buffet.

Southwest Wings is an educational celebration of the diversity of birds, mammals, reptiles, and insects in their environment; the sky islands in southern Arizona. The unique confluence of three climate zones ensures that the species count is high and many are only found in this area of the United States. We average about 200 species each festival. Our high elevation location guarantees moderate temperatures during our field trips. We offer small group trips limited to a maximum of ten people plus a guide. Our roster of guides include many professional bird guides from the area who know the birds and where to find them.

Southwest Wings Birding and Nature Festival is Arizona’s oldest birding festival. We began offering trips in 1991. This is the premiere nature festival in Arizona, consistently voted one of the top five birding and nature festivals in the country.

Come early and be our guest at our festive Kick-Off gathering immediately after early check-in registration to be held in the Banquet Hall at the adjoining Student Center.  Meet and mingle with your fellow Southwest Wings participants, guides, and the faces behind “The Greatest Little Birding Festival in the United States!”

Registration is conducted only online. The online registration system allows you to view information about the field trips, prices, and trip leaders. It also provides you with your festival itinerary and registration code. You can come back into the registration system to make changes. If you need help or have a question, please contact Gordon at admin@swwings.org.

All field trips begin and end at the Cochise College Library, Building 900. Field trip prices:
Over Night $250 (includes transportation, lodging, and all meals)
Full Day $90 (includes transportation and box lunch)
Half Day $45 (includes transportation; trips return at 1 pm and do not include lunch)
Owls $45 (includes transportation)

We urge you to make any lodging reservations as early as you can and ask for a special Southwest Wings rate. See our lodging page for a list of participating lodgings.
