Interestingly, the\u00a0egg was promptly buried deep in the nest and has not been recovered, but that didn&#8217;t stop the birds from\u00a0continuing\u00a0their annual nesting cycle. Three more brown-speckled eggs were laid on\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/NTykx2ofwCY\" target=\"_blank\">March 11<\/a>,\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/HaATiKV19Cc\" target=\"_blank\">13<\/a>,\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/OyhMWUoUA4c\" target=\"_blank\">16<\/a>.\u00a0<br><br>The Ospreys are now tasked with a six-week-long incubation period, during which the female&#8217;s main duty will be to care for the eggs while the male supplies\u00a0live fish. The owls are now well into their first week of the incubation period after the female laid&nbsp;three eggs on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/CjdiLWrRyiw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">March 9<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/X4LFk8ZjvJM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">11<\/a>, and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/VlCKlB536Vg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">14<\/a>, respectively. Assuming all goes well,&nbsp;hatching should begin in early April.<br><br>During the owls&#8217; month-long&nbsp;incubation period, the female is&nbsp;reliant on her mate to deliver meals to the nest box while she shelters her eggs and keeps them warm. Barred Owls are opportunistic hunters, meaning you never know what might be delivered. Over the years, we&#8217;ve seen everything from&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/rhXivooOpKo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">crayfish<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/1q-UyPlf9Bo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">earthworms<\/a>, to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/tEdy6T0U2rM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Blue Jays<\/a>, to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/uCnLkct63Hw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">young opossums<\/a>. This year, the male has already amassed an eclectic menu for his mate, including this&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/7hjamhaIRk4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">northern short-tailed shrew<\/a>!
