Roadside Hawk Attempts To Take A Meal From Panama Feeders

Watch a Roadside Hawk attempt to capture a Thick-billed Euphonia on the Panama Fruit Feeder Cam.

Incoming! Watch a Roadside Hawk make an attempt to catch a young Thick-billed Euphonia in this split-second encounter from the Panama Fruit Feeder Cam. The euphonia dodges the hawk’s talons in the nick of time and flies away from the feeder.

Roadside Hawks don’t often visit the feeders at Canopy Lodge, but they are among the most widespread raptors of the Neotropics. They are common along edges and roadsides in tropical lowlands from eastern Mexico through Central and South America. They primarily eat insects but will also take small mammals, reptiles, and birds.

Follow daily updates from the cam on Twitter/X and Mastodon to see all the action at the feeders.
