Cornell Hawks Keep Tabs On Clumsy Chicks

Watch the Red-tailed Hawk chicks bumble around the nest.

As the Cornell Hawks chicks pass the halfway point of the nestling period, we’re beginning to see definite signs of development thanks to expert care by Big Red and Arthur. This week, the chicks graduated to lumbering around the nest bowl and awkwardly flapping their big wings. What will the coming days bring? Watch live.

Falcon Face-Off: Did you miss the intruding Merlin that swopped over the Cornell Hawks nest on May 9? Listen to the Merlin’s call as Big Red tracks its movements above. Big Red mantles over her brood and responds with piercing calls of her own. These small falcons are likely no threat to the hawks at this stage, but that won’t stop Big Red from defending her family.
