About the Photographers

Here at the Cornell Lab we have a lot to be thankful for—most of all to our friends, supporters, members, Facebook fans, and citizen-science participants—a group that’s now more than 200,000 strong. So when we set out to put together a holiday card, our thoughts naturally turned outward. We held a holiday card campaign on our Facebook page in which fans first submitted photos, then voted on the top five to include on our card. 

We received 632 photo entries in a single week, and thousands of people voted. Our graphic designers turned the winning five into a pretty card and we emailed it out to everyone just before Thanksgiving. But the photo submissions were so great that we couldn't bear to leave them behind. Here on this page, we're showing you the 30 top photos that we chose for our shortlist before the voting began.
